Carla Valenti

Carla Valenti is a Representational painter based in Eastern Ohio. She earned her BFA at the Columbus College of Art and Design in a five year program that emphasized life drawing, observational painting and studio craft. Carla intensely studied the work of the Old Masters, producing copies and researching texts on traditional oil painting. Her process is highly descriptive of the subject while emphasizing craftsmanship, surface quality and subtle relationships of color.

Viewers discover subtle emotional content embedded within traditional themes of still life, figure and portraiture. Central to each painting are draftsmanship, balanced composition and controlled handling of the medium.

Carla operates a full-time studio with her partner of over twenty years, Matthew Kinsey, also a professional artist. They live in the beautiful rolling hills of Eastern Ohio with their three dogs Oscar, Lucy and Zoe. Carla has participated in several one and two-person exhibitions and many group shows, earning inclusion in numerous collections throughout the United States.
